How do I list my business in the directory or have my details changed?
Simply email info@black-isle.info with your business or organisation name, contact details and a paragraph of descriptive information. Alternately, send the info to Black-Isle.Info, 2 Bank St, Cromarty, IV11 8UY.
What will it cost me?
Entry of your contact details and a description of your business costs nothing, and will remain in the listings indefinately. Feel free to take advantage of this, as it is very important to us to make the directory as comprehensive as possible.
Simplified Pricing - Sept 2004
Inclusion of a live web link to your own website costs £20 per annum. Each year starts on the 1st of September, and you can expect to receive an invoice in late August. If you don't wish to continue your subscription, you can simply ignore the invoice. Your listing will remain on the site, but the web link will be removed.
Addition of your own photograph or logo to your details will carry a one-off charge of £10 for processing. (If you don't want your own photo, we'll use a random scenic pic of the Black Isle instead.) Businesses paying for weblinks will be known as subscribers.
Other benefits of becoming a subscriber.
The order businesses are listed in search results will be affected by whether you are paying for the above services - businesses paying for weblinks will feature above those who do not. Subscribers listings will also appear on a random basis as the featured business at the foot of the Home page of the site.
Clubs and Community Organisations.
Non-profit organisations can have e-mail addresses and web links for free. We want the directory to include everything from Sailing Clubs to Doctor's Surgeries. We'll still need to charge a one off £10 fee if you want your own logo or photo.
I would like more pictures and info on my listing.
Additional services include creating full websites in folders under the Black-Isle.Info domain - eg www.black-isle.info/acme. This can include as much information as you like, and we can supply e-mail facilities for you, so that you would be acme@black-isle.info. These pages can be set up so that you can edit the text yourself using a password protected system. Contact us for pricing information, but be assured that this will be a very simple and sensibly priced way to get a web presence.
How much traffic will Black-Isle.Info get?
We are experts in website promotion, and before long searches for 'Black Isle' or any of the towns in the area will bring up this site in the first few listings on most search engines. This site is also intended to replace large sections of our Scottish Highland Explorer site, and around half of its quarter of a million annual visits will be redirected this way. In the first full year, 2002, we hope to have around 200,000 individual visits.
Are there other ways to raise my profile on the site?
We are happy to listen to suggestions on the way the site is run. For instance, we wish to create a large number of static pages with information about the history and culture of the area, things for tourists to do etc. If you would like to contribute text and images for this, we'd be happy to credit you and direct readers of that page to your listing.
We do not intend to have banner advertising etc on the site however.
Who runs this site?
Black-Isle.Info is run by Plexus Media, a Cromarty based web design company with a history of creating high quality, well promoted and financially successful sites for clients throughout Europe. This site is not intended to make a profit, but rather to help bring business into the area, and raise our profile amongst local people. Advertising revenues are used to pay for the website hosting.
