Coast and Cairn

Coast and Cairn delivers adventurous activities on sea and land, specialising in sailing, guided hill walking and navigation training.

We sail from Fortose harbour on the Black Isle from April to October, on board our small sailing yacht, licensed to carry 3 passengers plus a skipper. We offer half-day and full day introductory sessions for those who are interested in learning to sail. Moving on from this, we are recognised by the Royal Yachting Association to deliver the 2-day Cruising Level 1 and 2 courses, leading to nationally recognised certificates. You can also join us on a day trip to a local harbour, such as Cromarty or Inverness.

'Coast and Cairn also offers a large range of RYA Shorebased courses throughout the year, covering everything from seamanship and navigation to using marine radios and first aid. Dates are available on our website or please contact us for more information.'

We also offer guided hill walking trips in the Highlands of Scotland, to a variety of different mountain areas, each with their own unique character. These trips can be combined with an overnight wild camping experience to really immerse yourself in the wilderness.

In addition, we deliver navigation training courses for those who want to learn to use a map and compass with confidence. We are an approved provider of the National Navigation Award Scheme, allowing us to deliver the 2-day Bronze and Silver awards, in addition to shorter introductory sessions.
