Misc. Notes
Louis Dunn:
She always kept the fare home in her handbag, Donella told me, and if ever Donald got out of hand, would pat her handbag.

Stephen Darling:
Belle and my Grandfather, Donald, emmigrated to Montreal, Canada in about 1926 (Donella says 1918, NOT 1926) as they had several friends and acquaintances from the Royal Navy who had moved to Montreal, then one of the great sea ports in North America, and the gateway for most European and UK freight into and out of the US. They lived in Montreal or Westmount their whole lives, although they did have a country house in Hudson Heights, Quebec, on the Lake of Two Mountains, as the landscape reminded them very much of the Scottish Highlands.

My Grandfather Donald died in 1962, and although my Grandmother returned to Scotland to live with her sister Meg, that lasted about 6 months til she couldn't wait to return home, as the Scotland she had left was not the one she returned to.

While she qualified and trained as a Nurse in WW1, once she and my grandfather moved to Canada, she never worked the rest of her life outside their home.

Donella:
Dad had a sister, Elizabeth Haye, already living here. I think he came out before Mother, around 1918. I was born in 1927 and Marjorie is at least 3 years older than I am, and Belle returned to Scotland for our births.
