Tom Lavington (Benjamin’s son):
Benjamin Lavington was born the son of Elizabeth Freeman, who was in service at Blenheim Palace Castle. It is believed that his father was a person high in the German government who had been visiting Blenheim. Benjamin only discovered that he was not a Lavington by birth when he wanted to join the army and had to provide a birth certificate. Also, it’s not known who paid for his education at the boys college, Oxford.

Elizabeth had left Blenheim to live with the Lavingtons who had also worked there, but returned to the palace after the brith, leaving him to be raised as a Lavington. Other than Elizabeth, the only person who knew who his father was was Mary Halfacre, a nurse in attendance at the birth.
