Firth View is a family run Bed and Breakfast with 2 beautifully appointed guest rooms commanding amazing views over the Moray and Cromarty Firths which surround the Black Isle. Moray Room is a king-size double with en-suite, while Cromarty Room is a double with its own private bathroom.
You will find us high on the ridge between the coastal villages of Rosemarkie and Cromarty in a peaceful, rural setting. However, we are only a 30 minute drive from Inverness City Centre, and can offer a perfect stopover for those adventurers tackling the NC500, either at the start or the end of your tour. Firth View also provides a great base for walkers, cyclists, (it's all downhill from here!), golfers, culture-vultures, dram-tasters, wildlife-watchers and photographers, with the beauty of the Black isle on our doorstep and Loch Ness, Culloden, the Cairngorm National Park and at least half a dozen distilleries within an hour's drive. Surrounded by farmland and forests, wildlife abounds and the Highland skies and weather provide an everchanging backdrop.
Our rural location makes Firth View a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Highland countryside. We are midway between the villages of Cromarty and Rosemarkie, 4 miles in each direction, so a stay here will require visitors to have their own vehicle as we are some distance from public transport. We have secure undercover storage for cycles and plenty of free parking.
To begin your day, we offer you a complete breakfast which we serve in our Guest Lounge. With delicious choices from our buffet table and freshly cooked Breakfast Menu, including our signature Black Isle Breakfast, you're sure to get your explorations of our wonderful area off to a great start.
Firth View is the result of our self-build project to create our dream home on retirement from the south of England in 2012. Having fallen in love with the Black Isle after several holidays, we decided to move here and build a home to provide us with flexible living space and to be as environmentally kind as possible. We have settled well into our new nest which has given us the peace and quiet of the countryside as well as easy access to the city and local community. We now enjoy friendship with local folk, as well as our hobbies of golf and photography, wildlife watching, music and gardening, and best of all, exploring the beautiful Highlands and Islands.
We are so lucky to share our home plot with a variety of wildlife. Many species of garden and woodland birds come to our feeders. Ravens, red kites, buzzards and sparrowhawks can often be seen overhead. You may catch sight of our local pine marten when he visits for his supper. We have a small hide overlooking a wildlife feeding area where the "locals" are getting to know where to find an easy meal and guests are welcome to share it with us, (the hide, not the meal!) Nearby is Chanonry Point, the best place for spotting Bottlenose Dolphins from land in Europe, and there are several local boat trips which will offer you the chance to see them out in the Firth! With coastal walks, sandy beaches, woodland paths and nature reserves as well as castles, museums, forts and other ancient sites practically on our doorstep, we can point you in the right direction for lots of new discoveries.
We enjoy our life on the Black Isle so much that we decided it would be lovely to share our cosy home, wonderful location and beautiful environment with our guests.
We hope to see you soon!
Caroline and Jim
