As you may know, the Port of Cromarty Firth is continuing with its application for a licence for ship-to-ship crude oil transfers in the mouth of the Cromarty Firth - right where one of Europe's largest pods of Bottlenose Dolphins live and breed. Dangers include the risk of oil spills from the 8million tonnes per year transferred, and the dumping of 2million tonnes per year of contaminated ships ballast water in the area. Dangerous and toxic VOC gas emissions will also affect many communities around the Moray Firth.
Cromarty Rising, a local group set up to combat the proposal, is launching a full legal challenge to the plan, and urgently needs your help to raise £30,000 to cover the legal costs.
